Fishing, Swimming and Sunbathing!

If you want to spend a relaxing day out of doors, Sandy Hook is a great choice. This narrow spit of land in NJ is host to bicycle trails, several beaches, varied wildlife, many types of fishing and even some historic buildings. Part of Gateway National Park, Sandy Hook has several wildlife preservation areas where nature lovers can enjoy bird watching.

Beaches on the hook's outer side are guarded in the summer and beach goers can safely relax in the sun and play in the water. Bathroom and changing facilities are near the entrance of each guarded beach. The inlet side of the hook is left wilder and unguarded, leashed dogs are welcome on the inlet beaches year round.
