Beautiful Park in Western Pennsylvania!

Located on the Youghiogheny River (a tributary of the Mississippi River) Ohiopyle State Park is a wonderland of natural beauty. View some of the many natural waterfalls scattered throughout the park, watch the wildlife undisturbed by modern man, or float lazily down the creek enjoying the natural water slides formed by the flowing water. For the more adventurous minded Ohiopyle has rapids for whitewater boating, numerous areas for rock climbing, and hiking trails of varying difficulty.

Spend the day and picnic in this peaceful park with your family, or spend time under the night sky at Kentuck Campground which has warm water and flush toilets. For a change of pace cycle the Great Allegheny Passage to a nearby trail town. A perfect place to relax year round, Ohiopyle also has sledding areas, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling when the snow falls.

A Great State Park For Watching Birds!

Ohiopyle State Park, located in Western Pennsylvania, has some of the most beautiful scenery you could ask for when bird watching in PA! What makes the park so wonderful is the diverse assortment of habitats: the magnificent Youghiogheny River Gorge is a perfect breeding ground for vibrant waterfowl, the deciduous trees of the forests running through the parkland (like the Meadow Run Trail) are home to many different species of birds, and even bald eagles have been spotted around the park! Here are some the birds that have been seen in the past: Hooded Mergansers, Ospreys, Wood Ducks, and even Blue Herons. Enjoy a quiet day of watching birds in the natural beauty of the Pennsylvania wilderness!

A Beautiful Day Trip in Western PA!

Marvel at the scenic Ohiopyle State Park, which encompasses about 20,500 acres of rugged natural beauty. The waters of the Youghiogheny River Gorge serve as the centerpiece of the park, with some of the best whitewater boating in the Eastern U.S.!

Visitors can also enjoy fishing, hiking, kayaking, biking, rock climbing, and horseback riding.  Take the family to the natural water slides in Meadow Run.  Though Ohiopyle State Park is a great day trip in Western PA, you can make a night of it at the Kentuck Campground (open March through December).
