Awbury Arboretum

Home of the State Champion River Birch!

This 55 acre Philadelphia arboretum dates back to 1852 and is a fun place to explore and view different types of trees and plants in a variety of environments. Stop by the wetlands or the meadow, view excellent examples of trees such as River Birch, American Linden and more.

Awbury contains historic Cope House which was built by a ship owner in 1852 as well as several other fascinating examples of historic 1800s homes. Events take place regularly, year round - check their calendar to find out when garden tours, summer field studies, historic talks and more are scheduled. One of the few arboretums in Philadelphia, the Awbury Arboretum is open to the public year round. Admission is free.
