Field of Screams

Home to Three Awesome Halloween Attractions in PA!

Are you looking for thrills, chills, and nonstop action?  Then, put Field of Screams at the top of your list!  With a total of three horrifying attractions, there will be more than enough thrills and chills to go around.  Ride through a field of the living dead by embarking upon the haunted hayride.  Face your demons in the Frightmare Asylum.  Square off against a bloodthirsty butcher in the Den of Darkness.

 

Field of Screams is located on a 33-acre parcel of land and first opened in 1993.  In addition to housing three frighteningly spectacular attractions, the venue is home to a variety of live shows and special events, including Battle of the Bands competitions and skateboarding contests. 

Fright Farm

The Fright Farm is the largest haunted attraction in the area

Let yourself get completely spooked at the Fright Farm in Smithfield, PA. The Fright Farm is the most visited Halloween attraction in Western Pennsylvania. It was founded more than 10 years ago and since then became visited by tourists all over the nation.

 

Before night falls, tourists can enjoy live music, scary movies shown on a huge screen, and more. A Haunted Hayride is available after dark, and visitors can enjoy the challenges it provides.

Ghosts of the Great Road

 There are a few days on which you can attend this walking tour. The tour takes place in the most haunted neighborhood of Philadelphia, the Historic Germantown on the Great Road. Witnesses say that many weird things are still happening in the area, and you might be one of the unlucky ones to see for yourself.

 

Historic Germantown and the Museum of the Macabre are collaborating for this ghost walk, so you can be sure you'll get beyond scared. 

Haunted Hills Estate

The Haunted Hills Estate in Uniontown, PA will get you in the Halloween spirit and help you have a good time whenever you visit. Visit the Spooky Street where all the fun happens: all the adventures are located here. You can get warm by the bonfire, and stop by The Crow’s Nest Novelty Shop to learn about the upcoming events and sign the available guest book.

 

On the way here, be ready to get scared by the creatures around.

Jason's Woods

Old location but scarier activities

Jason's Woods offers the perfect Halloween combination of entertainment and terror. The location has been recently renewed and improved, thus it has new attractions for the brave and fearless. In total there are 7 locations where you can get scared but 2 of them are offered as a free bonus depending on the tickets you buy.

 

The ticket prices start at $25 and go up to $80. Usually the activities start at 7 PM and last till 10 PM.

Laurel Hill Cemetery

A very old burial location

 The Laurel Hill cemetery in Philadelphia, PA is a National Historical Landmark as it has been founded in 1836. Giving its long history it's no wonder people think it's haunted and it even has been investigated by ghost hunters and paranormal investigators.

 

The admission is free, but donations are welcomed. The cemetery can be visited between 8 AM and 4:30 PM on weekdays and starting at 9:30 AM on Saturdays and Sundays. You can even bring your dog, but you must clean up after it.

Pennhurst Asylum

A haunted asylum, just like in the horror movies

The Pennhurst Asylum is over 100 years old and it initially served as a state school for the disabled people. At one time it even hosted at least 10,000 patients and it was served by a large number of personnel from various fields. The grounds of the asylum also host a cemetery and recreational areas for the residents.

 

The asylum closed at the end of 1987 after a decade of accusations and controversies that claimed the patients received no real help. The accusations proved to be true after a pretty short investigation.

Shocktober Fest

The Shocktober Fest started out in 1989 and it only had one attraction: a ride through the haunted woods. It also operated under a different name back then, but because the organizers wanted to expand to more attractions, they changed the name.

 

This is an annual haunted event that is available only for Halloween and it's aimed at the whole family.  Due to the expansion and the new additions, the event is constantly ranked in the top 13 scary events of the year.

Sleepy Hollow

3 spooky attractions

This location is actually a farm by day and a haunted place by night during the month of October. There are 3 main attractions available and its organizers promise you'll get really scared. However, if you survive you can partake in the bonfire, live entertainment and refreshments.

 

The attractions are the Sleepy Hollow Hay ride, the Haunted House and the Field of Fright. The tickets cost $14 per attraction, the bonfire is $8 but if you get tickets to all 3 attractions, the bonfire is free. A combo of attractions means a little discount. Get the RIP tickets, a little more expensive, and don't wait in line.

Terror Behind the Walls

What's better for Halloween than a haunted place?

 This is a haunted former prison, the Eastern State Penitentiary. This massive haunted house has 6 main attractions and depending on the ticket you get you can get to see all of them. The VIP ticket will grant you access to the backstage, to the attractions while having a private guide to show you around.

 

The tickets have different prices depending on the day you attend and they're usually sold at the entrance, though an online purchase is also possible.

The Spirits of '76 ghost tour

Seeing ghosts on the streets must be terrifying

 The Spirits of '76 ghost tour is one of Philadelphia's most popular attractions for Halloween. This is a walking tour in Historical Philadelphia and you might be the unlucky one to meet with a '76 ghost!

 

This tour includes more than 20 haunted locations across Philadelphia and you can also hear their stories for a more intense experience. The tickets and reservations are done online or by phone and their prices are $17.50 for adults and $12.50 for kids (aged between 3 and 12). A family of four gets a discount of $5.
